Northcote Farm is a property belonging to Lakefield College School, about 5 km north of the school's main campus. It has not operated as a farm in several years, but we are seeking to start a small (.5 acre) vegetable operation there in 2021 that would serve as an educational and service opportunity for our students.

Description of position: 
Request for Proposals: Lakefield College School (The School) is seeking the services of an experienced farmer to manage the development and oversight of a vegetable plot (.5 acres) at Northcote Farm in 2021, a property five km north of the main Lakefield campus. The creation of the plot, and the planting, tending, and harvesting of the vegetables, will also be used as a teaching opportunity for a small group of students throughout the growing season. The primary goal of the pilot project is to return agriculture to the farm and involve students in experiential learning opportunities involved in growing food, from building projects to planting crops to the science of tilling and irrigation. The success of this project will help determine future expansion and sustainability of agriculture at Northcote. The full rfp can be viewed at:
